Fans of the animated TV show Bob’s Burgers were treated to a fan-designed episode earlier this month.
The episode was designed fully by 60+ fans, making for an awesome viewer experience as well as getting fans deeply involved in the series.
This begs the question: will more shows follow suit? This type of fanimation (using fan artwork in a series) can be a great way for an animated TV show to deepen their connection with the audience. It can also be a cost saving measure for the production company, which unfortunately can lead to less animation work.
While it has it’s upsides and downsides, the team at Pucks and Rec have written a great article on the subject. Check it out here.
