
I just finished watching Matt Groening’s new animated series for Netflix, Disenchantment, and it was a bit of a tough slog.
The show isn’t bad, by any means. But it feels incredibly safe, especially compared to Groening’s earlier work. While it’s easy to view Disenchantment as a medieval version of Futurama that tackles the tropes of high fantasy instead of sci-fi, the comparison isn’t quite accurate.
