Crunchyroll and Adult Swim are working together to produce Blade Runner-Black Lotus, an anime set in 2032, 17 years before the events of Blade Runner 2049.

After the success of Blade Runner Black Out 2022 (an animated prequel to Blade Runner 2049), the news has come out that Alcon Television Group is working with Crunchyroll and Adult Swim to produce Blade Runner-Black Lotus, an anime series set in 2032, a full 17 years before the events of Blade Runner 2049. Aside from the year, all other plot details are being kept under wraps for the time being. The series will have 13 half-hour episodes directed by Shinji Aramaki and Kenji Kamiyama. Shinichiro Watanabe, who directed Blade Runner Black Out 2022, will serve as a creative producer for the series. No air date has been given for the series, but Adult Swim will have worldwide distribution rights for the English dubbed version of the series (except for Asia) when it does air.
